MARINA IMPLEMENTS A DAILY QOUTA SYSTEM IN ISSUANCE OF SEAFARER’S IDENTIFICATION AND RECORD BOOK (SIRB)

The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) in a letter to Filipino Association for Mariner’s Employment Inc. (FAME) will implement a Daily Qouta System in Issuance of Seafarer’s Identification and Record Book (SIRB). In lieu with the implementation of cut-off system of MARINA, they will be accepting 300 Regular Applications and 200 Expedite Applications per day.

All applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. or until all seafarers who are within the MDO premises are served, except EXPEDITE APPLICATIONS which will be entertained until 12:00 noon, only, under the condition once the qouta is reached for the day succedding applications will be processed the following day as indicated on the application.

The new system will take effect on 15 July 2010 moreover MARINA will observer the 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. work schedule with 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. lunch break.

The MARINA standard processing time is:

 Regular Application – One Day

Expedite Application – After 4 Hours
