NO
SMOKING, STRICTLY PROHIBITED ON COAL
CARRIERS
Coal
is a highly flammable material and can cause fire
onboard when not properly checked
Chartered
found crew smoking on deck on coal carrier while
the ship is discharging coal in Japan and
complained to ship owners. This is a very
dangerous situation. Many ships were already lost
in fire in port or at sea because of disregards to
smoking regulations.
At
present in all types of vessels, there are rules
and regulations on NO SMOKING itemized in the
ISM/SMS and posters all over the ship to remind
people; crew and visitors onboard to be observed
and followed for safety onboard ship.
Non-observance
of this rules and regulations is a strong
violation and disregard to safety. All crew are
assigned onboard, because you are the qualified
and trained seafarer.
Hence
the ship-owners reiterates their instructions to
observe and follow the rules and regulations on
the PREVENTION OF FIRE onboard particularly NO
SMOKING REGULATIONS. The ship has an
assigned Smoking area or Smoking Room, so all crew
onboard are to smoke only in smoking room and not
on any other areas onboard.
STRICTLY
OBSERVE “NO SMOKING” REGULATION
